Attachment-Focused EMDR

Clients often seek out EMDR when “talk therapy” hasn’t provided relief.

Are you someone who has patterns you seem to repeat in relationships? Have you noticed a sensitivity or reaction that feels out of proportion to an event?

EMDR provides another pathway for healing reactions that keep us stuck.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful tool used to aid in the recovery from symptoms that result from overwhelming and distressing experiences. The technique was developed by Francine Shapiro, PhD., in the late 1980s. Extensive research indicates that EMDR is beneficial for treating various conditions such as Anxiety, Phobias, Attachment disorders, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders, among others.

EMDR is effective because it allows access to a part of our brain where memories and experiences can become stuck.

How does EMDR work?

EMDR helps you process and integrate traumatic memories and symptoms using movement, sound, and/or sensation while you focus on an emotional reaction or experience.

The movements can be applied by the individual or the therapist and used during telehealth or in person.

“I felt truly heard and cared for by Jennifer. She is non-judgmental and possesses remarkable patience. I felt safe enough to fully lean into our trauma work as she respected my unique needs and preserved my agency. Jennifer played a monumental role in my healing, and she equipped me with the skills to ground myself in the present instead of being trapped by the imprints of my past”
